In
former years it had mostly been vocal-groups who left
their mark on classic reggae. However, with the digitalisation
of jamaican music, fans and musicians in the dancehall
began to focus more on solo-artists and their more or
less daily topical lyrics.
JAHPREMACY
have decided for a different way and revive the old "school"
of harmony chant. Marley „Raspectah“ Dread
and Sista Irie`n are the artists behind JAHPREMACY.
Their Passion has at all times been the Roots-Reggae –
a principle which can be heard in the group's musical
output as well as in their lyrics. However, this does
not mean that they are completely out of touch with reality
and against modernisation in general. In fact, JAHPREMACY
fit perfectly into the latest development in Reggae, the
so-called "New Roots". Based on the musical
Heritage of Jamaica this style is very well open for new
elements. The stage shows of JAHPREMACY
– accompanied alternativly by a Live-Band
and a Soundsystem
– show clearly this intended duality of foundation
music and dancehall.
At the moment JAHPREMACY work on collaborating
closer with jamaican artists and producers. Their musical
and cultural exchange is beginning to show results and
promises more for the future – namely
MUSIC PON A SOLID FOUNDATION.
